Local Law Enforcement
Around 50 automobiles have been smeared with what appears to be human blood in the Germany's municipality of Hanau close to Frankfurt, according to police.
Cars, exterior walls and mailboxes were marked, occasionally with swastikas, they announced in a statement.
Officers say they were contacted late on Wednesday, when a individual noticed that a automobile in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been smeared with a red-colored fluid.
The fluid had been placed in the form of a banned symbol, they stated.
Law enforcement then discovered multiple other smeared vehicles and house walls in the surrounding area.
Swastikas are banned in Germany under regulations outlawing the visible presentation of symbols from the Nazi era.
Law enforcement state early analysis suggest the substance was likely blood from a person.
"At present there remains no lead as to its source; investigators are not yet informed of any injuries in association with the event," they commented.
Local authorities stated they were working "to solve the incident" and have requested to the residents for information.
A senior representative stated the incident made him without words and needed to be addressed promptly.
"This incident strikes at the core of Hanau and revives the pain of the extremist violent incident five years ago," he wrote on a platform, recalling the murder of nine individuals by a assailant aiming at individuals of immigrant origin in February 2020.
